Ultrasound is a medical examination using high-frequency sound waves greater than 20,000 Hz. During the ultrasound imaging or Ultrasonography, high-frequency sound waves are emitted from the transdneer. The sound waves bounce against the tissues that have different reflection and passing ability. The transdneer is acting as a receiver of the sound reflection at various levels, identifying the density and depth of the tissues. The signals received will be processed into images for further diagnosis. It also enables surgeons to view the body image during operations.
Benefits of Ultrasound
Limitations of Ultrasound
The quality of the result depends on various factors. The sound waves can penetrate through the body at certain depths. Therefore, imaging of obese patients or very dense bones might be difficult. Also, images of body parts with gas obstructions might not be clear. Experiences of the person performing ultrasound also affect the examination precision. It is recommended that the procedure is performed by ultrasound expertise.
Objectives of Using Ultrasound Device
Ultrasound uses sound waves for medical purposes. Its ability to provide both static and dynamic examination or diagnosis results is the main highlight of this device. Though image clarity and resolution are yet at the same level as other tomography methods, ultrasound is sufficiently efficient, practical, and suitable for rural hospitals or medical facilities. The device can be transported with convenience and placed by the patient´s bed for agile examination.
